MINDFUL BREASTFEEDING
Mindful breastfeeding is a practice shared with your baby in a calm, relaxed and fulfilling way. It can be all too easy to get flustered and stressed in the early weeks as you try to perfect this skill in the midst of sleepless nights. However, recognising that this is a practice between you and your baby gives yourself permission to be less than perfect from the get-go.
Very often your inner voice can say harsh and critical things about the various difficulties that could come with breastfeeding, so learning to be gentle with yourself as you continue to share your body with your baby, will lead to a more nurtured you and more nurtured relationship between yourself and your baby. You have the opportunity here to reframe your thinking and set a new path to a more relaxed, connected breastfeeding journey. Antenatal preparation is key, however if you are currently navigating your way through early parenthood with your newborn baby, it is never too late to start this practice.
The key concepts are:
-
Breath work
-
Calming mind and body
-
Using your senses
-
Practicalities
-
Journaling
-
Positive affirmations
-
Relaxations
All of the above lead to a more relaxed parent, a more relaxed baby, the opportunity to practice mindfulness but even more importantly the opportunity to connect with your baby, slow down your mind and tune into your body.
Each new parent will receive a copy of The Mindful Breastfeeding book and 5 relaxation Mp3s.
